February 1869, in Victoria, Australia, John Deason and Richard Oates discovered the largest alluvial Gold nugget in history. It came to be know as “Welcome Stranger” weighing in at a massive 66kg.
The Perth Mint marked the 150th anniversary of the discovery, with the 2019-P Australia 1oz Silver ‘Welcome Stranger’ Nugget $1 Coin; with a mintage of only 30,000 pieces.
